Giffard is a French, family-owned liqueur house from Angers in the Loire Valley, founded in 1885 by the pharmacist and herbalist Émile Giffard, who invented a white mint liqueur with digestive properties. Its success led him to convert his pharmacy into a distillery, and today - five generations later - the house is still family-run, producing more than 60 fruit and herbal liqueurs for bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts around the world. The liqueur is part of the Giffard Premium Liqueurs range, ten top-quality liqueurs created to be the leading flavour in a cocktail, where the origin of each main ingredient is carefully selected and guaranteed. This triple sec is made from a combination of bitter Curaçao oranges and sweet Valencia oranges together with Giffard's own lemon essence, giving it its characteristic 40% strength.
Taste
The liqueur is translucent and crystal-clear, but becomes lightly opalescent when ice is added. The nose is full of candied orange peel with touches of fresh lemon zest, grapefruit and lime, while the palate is lush with bittersweet, juicy orange, black pepper and ginger spice, finishing with a tart, refreshing tang typical of orange and grapefruit peel.
