Giffard's Cherry Liqueur is a French fruit liqueur at 25% ABV, made through the maceration of sweet and sour cherries and raspberries, from the French liqueur house Giffard.
Giffard is a French, family-owned liqueur house from Angers in the Loire Valley, founded in 1885 by the pharmacist and herbalist Émile Giffard, who invented a white mint liqueur with digestive properties. Its success led him to convert his pharmacy into a distillery, and today - five generations later - the house is still family-run, producing more than 60 fruit and herbal liqueurs for bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts around the world. The Giffard Classic Liqueurs range is crafted with a focus on natural ingredients, authentic flavours and classic French craftsmanship, delivering a reliable and versatile base for any cocktail.
Taste
The nose is intensely fruity with ripe cherry and cherry marmalade, alongside a touch of roasted almond. The palate is fresh and fruity with an acidity that brings liveliness, while a slightly syrupy cherry richness is balanced by toasty notes, almond and bitter fruit tannins. The finish carries a warm brandy fullness.
