Melted caramel and crisp toffee in liquid form - a sweet liqueur where a touch of salt keeps the sweetness in check.

    Expert's Description

Giffard's Caramel Toffee Liqueur is a French Cream liqueur based on caramelised sugar, bottled at 18% ABV.

Giffard is a French, family-owned liqueur house from Angers in the Loire Valley, founded in 1885 by the pharmacist and herbalist Émile Giffard, who invented a white mint liqueur with digestive properties. Its success led him to convert his pharmacy into a distillery, and today - five generations later - the house is still family-run, producing more than 60 fruit and herbal liqueurs for bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts around the world. This liqueur is part of the Giffard Classic Liqueurs range, crafted with a focus on natural ingredients, authentic flavours and classic French craftsmanship. The caramel is slowly cooked so the sweetness gains depth rather than becoming artificially sugary, and the liqueur is rounded off with a touch of vanilla.

    Taste

The nose is buttery caramel and toffee with a light vanilla tone. The palate is creamy and full-bodied with clear toffee fudge and a mild bitterness from the cooked caramel, while a fine touch of salt balances the sweetness so the finish never becomes overwhelmingly sweet.
