Marzipan, bitter almond and a touch of dried apricot - a classic amaretto made through old-fashioned maceration rather than essences.

    Expert's Description

Giffard's Amaretto Liqueur is a French Nut liqueur based on almonds, bottled at 25% ABV.

Giffard is a French, family-owned liqueur house from Angers in the Loire Valley, founded in 1885 by the pharmacist and herbalist Émile Giffard, who invented a white mint liqueur with digestive properties. Its success led him to convert his pharmacy into a distillery, and today - five generations later - the house is still family-run, producing more than 60 fruit and herbal liqueurs for bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts around the world. This liqueur is part of the Giffard Classic Liqueurs range, crafted with a focus on natural ingredients, authentic flavours and classic French craftsmanship. The liqueur is made through maceration of almonds, apricot kernels and cherry stones, giving the characteristic bitter-almond and apricot-kernel flavour that defines an amaretto.

    Taste

The colour is golden brown. The nose offers vanilla and almond with light, fruity notes of apricot, while the palate opens with toasted almond followed by caramel on the finish. The mouthfeel is marzipan-like with notes of macaroon, toasted bitter almond, a light citric acidity and dried apricot fruit.
