Two years in a used Laphroaig cask gave this snaps a smoky character usually reserved for Scotch whisky – born as fresh nettle snaps, matured into something else entirely.

    The Expert's Description

Fary Lochan Fadlagret Snaps Dansk Akvavit is a Danish aquavit from the distillery in Farre near Give, bottled at 47% ABV.

The spirit starts life as Fary Lochan's fresh nettle snaps, which then spends 2 years resting in a used Laphroaig cask. The cask, previously home to a Scotch single malt, gives the snaps a distinct smoky character and a depth that points straight toward whisky.

It is one of the clearest examples of how Fary Lochan bridges its whisky craft with the more everyday snaps tradition – the same cask-ageing philosophy, applied to an herb-based spirit.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

Smoky and slightly peaty, with an underlying sweetness from the nettle and a hint of aged oak.

    Palate

Full-bodied and warm, where smoke from the Laphroaig cask meets the nettle's green, herbal base.

    Finish

Long and smoky, with a dry, whisky-like finish that lingers.
