Two agings meet in a single bottle. El Tequileño blends its Reposado, rested at least eight months in oak, with an 18-month-old Añejo from the same distillery - a combination that has won it the title of the world's best tequila.
Expert Description
El Tequileño Reposado Gran Reserva Tequila is a Mexican Reposado Tequila made from 100% agave and bottled at 40%.
Behind the bottle stands the Salles family's house El Tequileño, founded in 1959 in the town of Tequila and today led by third-generation master distiller Tony Salles. The house distils exclusively at its own facility, La Guarreña, where agave from its own fields is cooked and distilled before moving on to maturation.
The Gran Reserva expression is a blend: tequila aged at least eight months in American oak, joined by a portion of Añejo that has rested for 18 months. The result was named Best Tequila of the Year by the International Spirits Challenge in 2023 - one of the industry's most respected competitions.
