Botanicals foraged on beaches around Edinburgh give this gin a mineral, briny character that feels like a bracing walk along the Scottish coast.
Expert's description
Edinburgh Seaside Gin is a Scottish coastal gin, bottled at 43%.
The gin is built on 14 botanicals, including mulberries, lavender, pine, orange peel and lime peel, supplemented by classic gin botanicals such as juniper, coriander, cardamom and grains of paradise.
The signature botanicals are the foraged coastal plants scurvy grass, bladderwrack and ground ivy, which give the gin distinct mineral notes.
The small 5cl bottle makes it easy to try the distillery's coastal-inspired gin.
Tasting notes
Nose
The nose greets you with a wave of fresh, light floral notes, reminiscent of summer meadows and gentle coastal breezes, with a subtle minerality from the seaweed botanicals.
Palate
The palate has an unexpected sweetness thanks to the bladderwrack seaweed, which also contributes a touch of briny seaweed savouriness, counterpointed by the grassy notes of scurvy grass.
Finish
The finish is pleasingly crisp and slightly sweet.
