Named after Amsterdam's old harbour, where ships of the Dutch East India Company once moored, this gin is built on a recipe that Lucas Bols found tucked away in its own distillery.
Expert's description
Damrak Amsterdam Gin is a Dutch gin from Lucas Bols, bottled at 41.8%.
The recipe dates back to the 1700s and was rediscovered by Lucas Bols, the world's oldest distilled spirits brand, founded in 1575.
The gin is built on a neutral grain spirit and 17 botanicals, including oranges from Valencia and Curaçao, lemon, cinnamon, anise, juniper, lavender and angelica, and is distilled five times.
Unlike many traditional London Dry gins with a heavy juniper emphasis, Damrak goes for a more balanced, citrus-forward profile, where juniper remains a key ingredient.
