In the Douro Valley, where the river cuts through terraced vineyards, the house of Dalva has distilled its wines into brandy for more than a hundred years. Dalva Brandy VSOP carries that warm, southern heritage into the glass.
Expert's Description
Dalva Brandy VSOP is a Portuguese Brandy, aged in oak casks and bottled at 36%.
The house behind the bottle, C. da Silva, was founded in 1862 and forms part of the historic Port wine tradition in the Douro Valley. Alongside Port, the family has for generations also distilled Douro grapes into brandy under the Dalva name.
The brandy is made from the classic Douro grape varieties Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão, and has gained a round, harmonious character from oak ageing, with soft notes of dried fruit and vanilla.
