The deep, rose-red colour hints at something sweet and fruity, but Buss No 509 Raspberry is far more balanced than its looks promise, with juniper and spice keeping the raspberry in check.
Expert's description
Buss No 509 Raspberry is a Belgian gin from Buss Spirits Distillery, bottled at 37.5%.
The gin is built on botanicals such as juniper, coriander, licorice, angelica, vanilla, cardamom, iris, orange, lemon and raspberry.
Despite the rose-red colour, which might suggest a predominantly sweet and fruity gin, the raspberry is actually well balanced with juniper and an assortment of herbs, spices and citrus.
The result is a layered sweetness with a distinct raspberry accent, without the underlying gin character being drowned out.
