Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair - a delicious Single Islay Malt Whisky at 46.3%Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair is matured in old used sherry casks. The result is a round and smooth Islay Malt whisky with notes of nuts, raisins and dried fruit combined with hints of caramel and sea salt.Bunnahabhain - the Gaelic word for 'mouth of the river' - got a well-deserved face lift and a huge quality boost with this transition. Thus, the new packaging is adorned with the lyrics from Islay's national anthem "Westering Home" and at the same time the distillery switched to only bottling at 46.3% alcohol strength - non-chill filtered - to preserve all the fine flavors in Bunnahabhain. Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair 70cl / 46,3%Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling In 1879, the Islay Distillery Company was formed with the aim of building a new distillery on the coast of the 'Sound of Islay' near the mouth of the river 'Margadale'. This gave it the most remote location on Islay and the most difficult name (pronounced Boona'haven). The distillery produced the lightest and most delicate of all the island's whiskies. Construction began in 1881 - the official founding year - and in the following years full production began. In 1887, IDC merged with Glen Rothes Distillery to form The Highland Distilleries Co Ltd, later part of the Edrington Group. Today - 125 years later - Bunnahabhain is part of Burn Stewart Distillers - and Angostura! - which with this takeover also acquired the fine 'cult' blend Black Bottle.
