Bunnahabhain 12 Year Single Malt Whisky 46.3% - the light and delicate twelve year old whisky. The nose offers a remarkably fresh and aromatic experience of sea air and faint smoke. The taste starts light and clean, with fruit, olives and nuts, and moves into heavier malt-sweet impressions. The finish is spectacularly malty, but fresh - a little dry - and persistent. This gave it the most remote location on and the most difficult name (pronounced Boona'haven). The distillery produced the lightest and most delicate of all the island's whiskies. Construction began in 1881 - the official founding year - and in the following years full production began. In 1887, IDC joined forces with Glen Rothes Distillery to form Highland Distilleries Co Ltd, later part of the Edrington Group. Today - 125 years later - belongs to Burn Stewart Distillers - and ! - which with this takeover also got the fine 'cult' blend with the purchase. - the Gaelic word for 'mouth of the river' - got a well-deserved face lift and a huge quality boost with this transition. The new packaging is adorned with the lyrics from Islay's national anthem "Westering Home" and the distillery switched to only bottling at 46.3% alcohol strength - non-chill filtered - to preserve all the fine flavors in .
