Ten months in a 2000-litre armagnac cask from Gascony. An unusually long journey for a rum that began life in the Caribbean.
Expert description
Bapt & Clem's 8 Years Armagnac Cask Finish is a Rum from the Dominican Republic, matured 8 years in bourbon casks in the Caribbean and finished 10 months in armagnac casks in Gascony, bottled at 45%.
The rum spends its first years in bourbon casks in the Caribbean, after which it is sent to Gascony in southwestern France, where it is finished in massive 2000-litre casks that previously held armagnac for 30 years. The long French-Caribbean journey gives the rum a complexity spanning from classic rum notes to floral, honeyed nuances from the armagnac cask.
