Appleton Estate Hearts Collection 1999 is a Jamaican Single Cask Rum distilled from molasses on Appleton's copper pot still, matured for 21 years in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 63%.
The rum was distilled in 1999 and selected by Appleton Estate's master blender Joy Spence and Velier founder Luca Gargano for the acclaimed Hearts Collection – a series of the first single-marque pot still rums the distillery has ever released. The 1999 vintage offers a more sophisticated and elegant profile than the typical funky, high-hogo style often associated with Jamaican rum.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Medicinal first impression with esters and glue, tropical fruit such as pineapple and banana, herbaceous molasses and roasted wood notes of leather and caramel, spicy, developing with air into citrus, orange peel, anise, vanilla and baking spices.
Palate
Pineapple, orange, sour grapes, butterscotch, black tea, nutmeg and gummy bear tones in a profile that is classic Appleton, but turned up a few notches.
Finish
Elegant and lingering with toffee, light caramel and a warm, inviting conclusion.
