Two different oak casks, two different stories, one rum. Abuelo Two Oaks is Varela Hermanos' take on how cask choice alone can shape an entire character.
Expert Description
Ron Abuelo XII Anos Two Oaks is a Panama Rum, distilled and aged by Varela Hermanos, aged 12 years and bottled at 40%.
Varela Hermanos, Panama's oldest and most respected rum producer founded in 1908, is behind the entire Ron Abuelo range. The Two Oaks edition is aged in two different types of American oak casks, a technique that allows the distillery to highlight two different wood characters in the same bottle. The name "Abuelo", Spanish for grandfather, is a nod to the founder's son, who gave the family's rum its name as a tribute to tradition.
The result is a round, easy-drinking rum with pronounced vanilla and spice from the oak, carried by a soft sweetness.
