"Abuelo" means grandfather in Spanish, and there is indeed something near grandfatherly calm about this Panamanian 7-year rum.
Expert description
Ron Abuelo Añejo Reserva Superior 7 Year is a Rum from Panama, distilled on a four-column still and matured at least 7 years, bottled at 40%.
The rum comes from Varela Hermanos, which has distilled rum in Panama since 1908. Reserva Superior 7 Year is the house's classic, age-stated release, where the long column distillation gives a clean, smooth base that the subsequent cask maturation builds on with toffee, caramel and spice. It is a rum that balances easy approachability with a serious, well-developed character.
