Writers Tears Redhead 70cl / 46% Irish Single Malt Whiskey Distillery Bottling This exquisite single malt is - true to Irish tradition - distilled three times, but then aged exclusively in carefully selected casks, 'impregnated' with the finest Oloroso Sherry. The hallmark of Writer's Tears Red Head is the dark ruby red glow that comes from the influence of these amazing and rare sherry casks. The natural influence of the wood and the careful monitoring of the maturation process contribute to the outstanding quality and distinctive flavors of this very special single malt To highlight this special version of Writer's Tears, it is bottled at 46% ABV, elevating 'Red Head' to something truly unique. Color: Shiny ruby red Nose: Orange peel, dried fruit and sherry plums Palate: Nutty Oloroso, spicy raisins and the richness of the oak Finish: Long and wonderfully complex with a myriad of citrus notes. A walk in the park. Ireland is proud of its - this small island's literary heritage rivals that of any nation on the planet. James Joyce and Brendan Behan, Flann O'Brien and Oscar Wilde, to name just a few among hundreds of others. Each and every one has more than their fair share of this country's soul and intellect. What could be better than to reward their contributions with a dram of the very fluid that so often underpinned their creativity? Bernard Walsh of Walsh Whiskey Distillery has revived a style known among writers in the days of James Joyce as 'The Champagne of Irish Whiskey', containing the same richness and depth as the chapters that then - and now - flowed from the pens of these, Ireland's finest word jugglers. Whiskey, similarly, can be a labor of love, done day and night, painstakingly, almost meticulously, until the result is perfect. Walsh called his creation 'Writers' Tears' because it is said that when Ireland's greatest poets wept, their tears had an aura of whiskey.
