Thy Whisky Cask no 6 Kræn Kræmmer is a Danish single malt whisky from Thy Whisky Distillery, bottled at full cask strength of 50.4%. It is part of the distillery’s exclusive cask series and named after Kræn Kræmmer, a historic local figure known for his determination and character.

The whisky is made from organic barley grown in Thy and distilled in pot stills before being matured in a single ex-bourbon cask. The result is a powerful and complex whisky with clear notes of vanilla, grain, light smoke, and spice. The taste is intense and balanced with a long, warm finish.

Slightly dry with clear sherry notes, rounded off with coffee and chocolate.Thy Whisky no. 6 Kræn Kræmmer is made from the old Nordic barley variety Imperial, grown in 2013, right in the middle of the beautiful nature of Nationalpark Thy. The barley is malted at Mälzerei Steinbach, mashed at Thisted Bryghus, distilled at Nordisk Brænderi and aged in two converted ex-sherry casks in the whisky warehouse at the organic farm Gyrup in Thy. The whisky is a meeting between the old forgotten grain variety and two different sherry casks. One ex-PX, the other ex-Oloroso. The result is a deep amber-golden single malt with a complex aroma where notes of chocolate, dried fruit, malt and grain meet fresh notes of berries. The whisky has a long and warming aftertaste, where the sherry casks clearly contribute both vinosity and sweetness. The whisky is bottled at 50.4% alcohol, where there is a fine balance between aroma, taste and strength without the alcohol becoming too dominant. The whisky opens up further when a few drops of water are added to the glass. The story of Kræn Kræmmer: In days gone by, an enterprising peddler had ventured from the south of the fjord to do business in his own homeland, Thy. In the evening, however, he got lost in the darkness and ended up at a burial mound in Gyrup. Here - far from the warm bed of the roadside inn - he sought shelter from the weather and enjoyed some of the smoked goods from his corpulent travel bag. Tobakshøj is the name of the place today. A spot that invites you to chat over a politically incorrect pipe - and a whisky to match the good company. So we've made it and dedicated it to Kræn Kræmmer, in case one day he might once again make his commercial journey this way
