Take Sanaig's sherry-driven balance, remove the water, and let the cask speak completely unfiltered. Sanaig Cask Strength 2024 Edition is the most intense version of Kilchoman's sherry-forward core release.
Expert's description
Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength 2024 Edition is an Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled at cask strength, 57.8 %.
Where the standard Sanaig is bottled at 46 %, this edition is bottled straight from the casks with no water added. That gives a markedly more powerful and concentrated experience of the same sherry-focused recipe — a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks that normally balances Sanaig's profile.
The higher strength means both the sweetness from the sherry casks and the peat smoke from Islay come through more clearly, making this release ideal for those wanting a more intense version of an already familiar whisky.
Tasting notes
Nose
Powerful sherry sweetness meets a distinct, almost sharp peat smoke, with notes of dried fruit, vanilla and lightly spiced oak.
Palate
Full and intense, with smoky peat, dried fruit and a warm spice note tied together by the sherry's sweetness.
Finish
Long and warm, with lingering smoke and a final trace of raisin and oak.

Did you know?
Because cask strength releases have no water added, the alcohol content varies from year to year depending on how much has evaporated through the cask's wood during maturation — what whisky people call the angels' share.
