Rossville Union 7 Year Barrel Proof Straight Rye Whiskey has matured for 7 years and is bottled directly at cask strength, 58.5%. Rossville Union is named after the Rossville Distillery, founded in 1847 by George Ross in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, during rye's golden age. Ross built his distillery atop a water reservoir, providing limestone-filtered water that prevented sulphur and iron compounds from harming the whiskey's flavour. After Prohibition, the distillery was bought by Canadian company Seagram in 1933, and after several changes of ownership, MGP took over the site in 2011. Rossville Union Rye, launched in 2018, was MGP's first rye product under its own name, after decades of supplying rye whiskey to other brands.
