The scent of freshly cut grass, citrus and a hint of gooseberry reaches you before you have even tasted the wine. The glass's broad, wing-shaped bowl carries the crisp, fresh aromas up toward your nose as you pour.
The Expert's Description
Riedel Winewings Sauvignon Blanc 1234/33 is a machine-blown white wine glass from the Austrian glassmaker Riedel, shaped with a broad, wing-like bowl engineered for crisp, aromatic grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc.
Riedel has been making glass since 1756, and the family business is now run by its 11th generation of glassmakers and designers. Winewings glasses are stretched outward instead of upward, giving a far larger surface than a traditional white wine glass. For an aromatic, high-acid wine like Sauvignon Blanc, that means the signature herbal and citrus notes come through more clearly, without the wine losing its freshness.
Design & Material
The glass is made from clear crystal glass with no tint. The wide, wing-shaped bowl is the signature feature, giving the aromas plenty of room, while the slender stem keeps your hand away from the bowl so the wine stays cool for longer.
Use & Recommendation
The glass suits crisp, aromatic white wines like Sauvignon Blanc, where the herbal and citrus notes need to stand out clearly. Serve the wine chilled and let the wide bowl do the work of opening up the aromas. The glass is dishwasher safe on a gentle cycle.

Did You Know?
In 1986, Georg J. Riedel drew the Vinum series - the first machine-blown glass range able to match the flavour-enhancing effect previously only found in hand-blown glasses. Winewings builds on the same philosophy, just with a far more distinctive, wing-shaped bowl.
