The name borrows from Speyside, the Scottish whisky region with more distilleries than anywhere else in the country. Riedel Spey is the slimmer, more elegant companion to Fire in the Tumbler Collection, still stemless but with a more restrained, tapered line.
The Expert’s Description
Riedel Spey Whisky Tumbler is a stemless whisky glass from the Tumbler Collection by the Austrian glassmaker Riedel, made from machine-blown crystal glass with a slimmer, gently tapered body named after the Scottish whisky region of Speyside.
Spey, along with Fire and Optical O, is one of the three shapes in Riedel's Whisky & Longdrink Tumbler Collection, each offering its own take on aroma and mouthfeel. If Speyside whiskies are what you collect, you will find a broad range under Whisky.
Design & Material
Where Fire is wide and rounded, Spey is drawn with a slimmer, more upright line and a gently tapered rim that channels the aroma toward the nose without making the glass feel delicate. Its 102 mm height gives it a calm, stable centre of gravity even when full.
Use & Recommendation
Spey suits whisky where you want a more focused aroma experience, such as Speyside single malts with fruity, floral notes. The glass is dishwasher safe and needs no special treatment in everyday use.
