In the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, where the air runs thin and the soil is volcanic, the blue agave plants that become Olmeca Silver are grown. This is tequila without detours — crisp, fresh and straight to the point, exactly as it should be when the glasses come out.
Expert Description
Olmeca Silver is a Mexican Silver Tequila made from blue agave, bottled at 35% ABV.
The Olmeca brand was founded in 1967 and has been part of spirits giant Pernod Ricard since 2001. The tequila is distilled by Destilería Colonial de Jalisco in the Los Altos highlands, where the agave is hand-harvested and slow-roasted in traditional brick ovens before being distilled in copper stills. Olmeca Silver is not a 100% agave tequila — it is a blend of agave and sugar syrup, known as a Mixto tequila — and it is neither aged nor coloured, giving it its crystal-clear, unaged character.
