Four cask types, one whisky. Octomore 16.2 blends Oloroso, Bordeaux, Madeira and Moscatel with extreme peat, attempting to unite smoke and winey elegance.
Expert description
Octomore 16.2 is a super-peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Bruichladdich, matured for 5 years and bottled at 58.1%.
The whisky is distilled from Scottish Concerto barley to 101.4 ppm and matured for five years in a complex combination of casks: Oloroso sherry, Bordeaux, Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel. The result is a whisky with depth and an unusual balance between peat smoke and winey nuance.
This edition of The Impossible Equation series explores how extreme peat smoke can be united with elegance and fruitiness from four different wine casks at once.
