Trudy comes in a generous one-litre bottle with a hand-drawn label and no pretensions about being fancy. She was born out of Niepoort's Nat'Cool movement, where the whole point is wine that is easy to love and easy to share.
Expert's Description
Niepoort Trudy the True Ruby is a Portuguese Ruby Port from the Douro Valley, bottled at 19.5%.
The wine is made in a light, fresh style with minimal intervention and matured briefly in wood, giving it a hint of toasted oak over the fresh berry fruit. It belongs to Niepoort's Nat'Cool project, which the house launched in 2020 together with a group of like-minded producers focused on low-intervention, unpretentious wines.
Niepoort was founded in 1842 by the Dutch van der Niepoort family in Vila Nova de Gaia. Under Dirk Niepoort, the house has developed a distinctly experimental side alongside its classic Ports, and Trudy belongs right there.

Did You Know?
Trudy is bottled in a generous 1-litre format instead of the usual 75cl and belongs to Niepoort's Nat'Cool project, a loose collective of producers who, since 2020, have made unpolished, hand-illustrated wines as a counterweight to the more formal Port world.
