On the remote island of Myken in Nordland, the distillery harvests all its botanicals locally, from cloudberries to sea buckthorn, creating a gin that tastes of the Arctic summer.
Expert's description
Myken Arktisk Sommergin is a Norwegian gin from Myken Destilleri, bottled at 47%.
All botanicals are found on or near Myken, including the island of Sjurøya, the largest in the archipelago, and include juniper, cloudberries, redcurrants, blueberries, crowberries, sorrel, oarweed, meadowsweet, adder's fern, scots lovage, rhubarb, rose root and sea buckthorn.
Unlike the distillery's Vintergin, the Sommergin is based on purchased spirit and uses only local herbs, giving it a milder character.
The result is a long, full and complex gin that carries the wild flavour of northern Norwegian nature straight into the glass.
