Monkey 47 Miniature Schwarzwald Dry Gin is a German Schwarzwald Dry Gin, bottled at 47%.
The 47 botanicals are macerated in molasses alcohol and distilled in small batches using traditional copper stills.
Among the botanicals sourced from the Black Forest itself are lingonberry, sloe, elderflower and blackberry leaves, while exotic elements such as jasmine, ginger and vervain add depth.
After distillation, the gin rests in clay jars for three months before being brought to 47% with the Black Forest's pure spring water. This 5cl edition is a miniature of the original bottle.
Tasting notes
Nose
The nose is complex, with juniper at the fore, backed by red berry fruit, spruce and floral tones.
Palate
The palate is deep and spiced, where lingonberry and sloe meet spruce, liquorice and a touch of exotic jasmine and ginger.
Finish
The finish is long and spiced, with lingering notes of berries and forest floor.
