Agave Marmorata takes up to a quarter of a century to mature in the wild around Oaxaca – and once it is finally harvested, it becomes something hard to compare to anything else in the world of Mezcal. Tepeztate from Hedonistas de la Fe is one of the rarest, most complex expressions you will find.

    Expert Description

Hedonistas de la Fe Tepeztate is a Mexican Mezcal from Oaxaca, made from 100% Agave Marmorata and bottled at 46%. Behind the bottle is maestro mezcalero Gerardo "Kaín" Santiago Hernandez, who runs a family palenque in Santiago Matatlán, where the agave is cooked in an underground earth oven, crushed on a stone tahona wheel and fermented with wild, airborne yeast in wooden vats before being double-distilled in copper alembic stills. This Tepeztate is made from wild agave matured for 20-22 years in the wild, with production limited to 160 bottles.
