Not every Tawny needs an age statement to tell a story. Fine Tawny is the house's simplest take on the style — light, dry on the finish, and made to be drunk without ceremony.

    Expert's Description

Graham's Fine Tawny Port is a Portuguese Tawny Port from the Douro Valley, aged in oak casks and bottled at 19%.

Fine Tawny is the entry level of Graham's Tawny range, aged for a shorter time in cask than The Tawny and the aged 10 and 20 Year Old expressions, but still long enough to develop the characteristic reddish tawny colour and soft, dried-fruit notes.

The style is designed as an accessible entry into Graham's Tawny family, where the full depth and complexity only really show themselves in the older, aged expressions.

    Tasting Notes

    Nose

The nose offers ripe fruit balanced by a touch of dried fruit.

    Palate

The palate is lightly dry, elegant and smooth, with pleasant body without being heavy.

    Finish

The finish is short and clean, closing with a last hint of nuttiness.

Frequently Asked Questions about Graham's Fine Tawny Port

What does 'Fine' mean in Fine Tawny?

It's a classic category term in the Port world for the younger, more accessible Tawny styles, as opposed to aged or vintage-dated Ports.

How does Fine Tawny taste compared to a 10 Year Old Tawny?

Fine Tawny is lighter and more straightforward, while a 10 Year Old Tawny has spent longer in cask and therefore carries more nutty and caramel complexity.

Should Fine Tawny be served cold?

It's best enjoyed lightly chilled, around 12-14°C, ideally as an aperitif.

Is Fine Tawny suitable for cooking?

Yes, its light, dry style makes it well suited as an ingredient in sauces and desserts where a Port note is wanted without too much sweetness.

How long does an opened bottle of Fine Tawny keep?

It keeps well for a couple of weeks after opening, if stored cool and dark with the cork replaced.
