Not all the grape juice from Gourry's land in Grande Champagne ends up as Cognac. Some of it is stopped along the way, fortified with the house's own spirit, and turned into something paler and lighter, a golden Pineau des Charentes with citrus and white flowers in the glass.

    Expert's Description

Gourry de Chadeville Pineau des Charentes Blanc is a French Pineau des Charentes made from fresh grape juice and Cognac from Gourry de Chadeville, bottled at 17%.

At Gourry de Chadeville, the world's oldest Cognac house, founded in 1619 and still family-owned through fifteen generations, the house's own Cognac is used to stop the fermentation of fresh grape must. The Blanc bottling keeps a pale, golden colour and a light, fresh character clearly distinct from its rosé sibling.

The result is an aperitif with notes of white flowers, citrus and a hint of honey, made to accompany shellfish and light starters just as naturally as it can be enjoyed on its own.
