Bottled exclusively for the Danish market — a Glen Spey that was never meant to stand alone, but which Signatory Vintage chose to give that chance. Ten years in 1st use hogsheads, bottled without filtration and without colouring. Straightforward presentation. Honest whisky.

Note: Rust may appear on the cap.

    Expert's description

Glen Spey 2010/2021 Signatory Vintage 10 year is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in 1st use hogsheads, bottled at 46% non-chill filtered exclusively for the Danish market. Glen Spey in Rothes is a distillery that rarely steps forward as a soloist. Founded in 1878 by James Stuart and sold to W. & A. Gilbey in 1887. Today owned by Diageo and primarily a supplier to the J&B blend. The distinctive purifiers on the spirit stills produce a light, floral and delicate spirit.

Signatory Vintage from Pitlochry is one of Scotland's most respected independent bottlers. Their Un-Chillfiltered Collection sets the standard: always at least 46% ABV, no chill filtration, no added colouring. This bottling was distilled on 16 September 2010 and matured in two 1st use hogsheads (#804786 and #804792), bottled on 31 May 2021. Exclusively for the Danish market.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

Fresh lemon zest and light floral tones combined with creamy vanilla and gently spiced oak. A delicate underlying maltiness.

    Palate

Creamy and lightly oily texture — precisely because chill filtration was omitted. Fresh pears, strawberries and ripe bananas. Liquorice notes emerge. The 46% gives a pleasant bite without overwhelming the fruit.

    Finish

Long and fruity. Bananas and pears linger slowly with a hint of soft oak.

Frequently asked questions about Glen Spey 2010/2021 Signatory Vintage 10 year

Is Glen Spey Signatory 10 year worth the price?

Yes — a hand-numbered single malt bottled exclusively for the Danish market. Non-chill filtered at 46% from a respected independent bottler is a strong combination for the price.

    What is The Un-Chillfiltered Collection?

Signatory's Un-Chillfiltered Collection is a series where the whisky is always bottled at a minimum of 46% ABV and never chill filtered. This preserves the natural oils and gives more texture and body in the glass.

    What are 1st use hogsheads?

A hogshead is a medium-sized cask (approximately 225–250 litres). 1st use hogsheads means this is the first time the cask has been used for whisky — the cask's influence is strongest at first use and delivers more sweetness and vanilla notes.

What does exclusive to the Danish market mean?

The bottling was specifically selected and released for sale in Denmark. It has not been marketed in the same form internationally, which makes it a little more special for whisky enthusiasts.

Can rust on the cap affect the whisky?

No — rust on the metal screw cap is a superficial cosmetic phenomenon and does not affect the contents. The whisky is hermetically sealed and tastes exactly as intended.

    Who is Signatory Vintage?

Signatory Vintage is one of Scotland's most respected independent bottlers, founded in 1988. They now own Edradour distillery in Pitlochry and are known for consistently high quality and transparency.

When is the best time to open the bottle?

Now is a good time — the whisky is ready to drink. An opened bottle keeps best within the first 1–2 years. After opening, consider decanting into a smaller bottle to reduce air contact.

What do I serve with Glen Spey 10 year?

Serve neat or with a small amount of water in a Glencairn glass — see our whisky glass range. Pears, peaches or lightly salted nuts work well alongside.
