Don Q Double Wood Sherry Cask Finish is a Puerto Rico Rum from Destilería Serrallés, aged 5 to 8 years in American white oak and then finished for a year in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, bottled at 41%.
The rum is carefully selected and blended before being transferred to casks that previously held Spanish Oloroso sherry, where it matures for a further year. This finishing adds a sweet, perfumed depth of juicy, ripe fruit on top of Don Q's more traditional, dry ex-bourbon-cask profile of spice and vanilla. The rum was awarded 91 points by Tastings.com.
The result is a complex rum uniting two distinct cask characters in a single bottle.
