The name Bathtub is an affectionate nod to Prohibition-era home distilling, where gin was infused with botanicals in private bathtubs, a technique this English gin recreates with respect for the craft.
Expert's description
Bathtub Sloe Gin Small Batch is an English gin under the Professor Cornelius Ampleforth's label, infused with sloe berries and bottled at 33.8%.
The gin is based on a fine copper pot-still spirit that is cold-compounded with botanicals such as juniper, orange peel, coriander, cinnamon, cardamom and clove, a traditional method where the ingredients steep without heating.
Sloe berries are added to give the gin its characteristic sweetness and berry-filled profile, and the long steeping period, controlled entirely by periodic sampling, gives the gin a faint yellow hue.
The spirit is produced in ultra-small batches by Ableforth's, formerly known as Professor Cornelius Ampleforth's, in Kent in southeast England.
