Baileys was created in 1974 by a team led by Tom Jago at Gilbeys of Ireland in the English town of Harlow, as the first Irish Cream product on the market. The name R.A. Bailey is fictional, inspired by the Bailey's Hotel in London. The signature cream still comes from the Glanbia dairy in County Cavan, and today around 82 million bottles of Baileys are sold annually in over 160 countries.
