This 1st fill Bourbon Barrel has been carefully selected by Danish whisky experts at the Lochranza Distillery on the beautiful Isle of Arran. As an exclusive single cask bottling available only on the Danish market, this whisky is a true gem for sherry lovers — but here, it’s their peated variant with a hefty 50 ppm.
The nose is unmistakably peaty — rich, intense peat smoke with hints of bonfire, ash, and light iodine, yet also underpinned by the sweetness from the bourbon cask. Notes of vanilla, ripe pears, and a touch of citrus balance the smoky profile and make your mouth water.
On the palate, the whisky surprises by starting soft and fruity — almost seductive, with notes of baked apples, tropical fruits, and honey — before it explodes in a wave of well-integrated peat smoke. The 50 ppm is clearly present but beautifully woven together with the distillate’s natural sweetness and the creamy texture from the bourbon cask.
The finish is long, warm, and lingering, with notes of smoked vanilla, grilled citrus fruits, and a dry touch of oak and white pepper. The high alcohol strength adds extra punch without overpowering the experience.
