Off the coast of Brittany lies a small archipelago called Triagoz - and it has lent its name to one of Warenghem's most distinctive bottlings.

    Expert's description

Armorik Triagoz 2nd Edition Lightly Peated is a Single Breton Malt Whisky from the Warenghem distillery, bottled at 46 percent.

The whisky is made from Breton barley and French wheat and carries a lightly peated character before maturing further on bourbon casks. 2,500 bottles were filled of this release, and the whisky is non-chill filtered, preserving more of the natural oils and aromas from distillation.

Warenghem is based in Lannion in northern Brittany, where the Atlantic humidity leaves its mark on maturation. The Triagoz series is named after a small archipelago off the Breton coast and draws its smoky character from locally sourced peat.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

The nose offers peach and pear, followed by peat, a light medicinal note and vanilla from the bourbon cask.

    Palate

The palate is smoky, warm and spicy, rounding off quietly with a hint of lemon.

    Finish

The finish offers ash, pear and a last touch of pepper.
