Mallorca is known for beaches, not vineyards - but Bodegas Ànima Negra has worked since 1994 to change that picture. AN/2 is the house's introduction to the island's own, rare grape varieties.
Expert's Description
AN/2 is a Red Wine from Mallorca, Spain made from the local grape varieties Callet, Manto Negro, Syrah and Fogoneu, bottled at 13.5% ABV.
Ànima Negra was founded by Pere Obrador and Miguel Àngel Cerdá with a clear goal: to prove that Mallorca's native grape varieties can deliver serious quality wine. Grapes from old Callet vines ferment and age in a combination of steel and concrete with only brief skin maceration, preserving the freshness of the fully ripe fruit. The wine ages just over a year in a mix of French and American oak.
