    West Jutland does not smell of iodine and hospital. It smells of smoke from the malt lofts, of dune pines and sea air. That is what Stauning set out to capture when they lit the peat and made RØG – a Danish smoked whisky with a voice of its own.

    Stauning RØG Smoked Double Malt is a Danish Whisky bottled at 43%, made from a blend of floor-malted, peated barley and unpeated malt. Stauning Whisky was founded in 2005 in Skjern, West Jutland. RØG is the distillery's take on smoked whisky – not an imitation of heavy, medicinal Islay profiles, but a lighter, fruitier smoke style rooted in West Jutland terroir. Matured in a combination of 1st fill bourbon and sherry casks.

    Tasting notes

    Nose

    Soft, fruity smoke with green apple and vanilla cream. The smoke is present but restrained – it does not impose itself.

    Palate

    Light and fruity with smoke as a constant supporting note. Pear, soft toffee and a hint of citrus peel. More sweet than sharp.

    Finish

    Medium length with gentle smoke and lingering sweetness. Clean and inviting.
