Powerscourt is one of Ireland's newest distilleries. Established in 2017, the first freshly distilled drops flowed from the stills in 2018.

The distillery is located
Powerscourt Estate about 30 minutes drive south of Dublin. The estate and distillery are owned by the Slazenger family.

Powerscourt Often described as the "The Garden County" jewel of Wicklow, the Estate is a timeless and very historic place. With 47 hectares of landscaped gardens with Sugarloaf Mountain in the background, it has been recognized as one of the three most beautiful gardens in the world by National Geographic.

The distillery
The distillery itself is
equipped with a large mash tun, four wash backs (two of 12,500 liters and two of 26,000 liters) and three distillation boilers of 12,500, 8,250 and 5,500 liters respectively. This allows for both double and triple distillation. The whisky matures in the distillery's own warehouse on the property.
Master Distiller Noel Sweenet Fercullen Whiskey
PowerscourtMaster Distiller Noel Sweeney started his career in the whisky industry at Cooley Distillery in 1989. After graduating with degrees in Chemistry and Quality Management, it wasn't long before he took on the role of Master Distiller/Master Blender at Cooley Distillery. Over 28 years, Noel Sweeney has helped develop many new Irish whiskies, including the award-winning Connemara (peated) Irish Whiskey, Greenore Single Grain, Kilbeggan Blend and Tyrconnell Single Malt. And at Powerscourt, Noel Sweeney has now developed the award-winning 'Fercullen' range. Each of these whiskies has been created using whiskies that Noel and his team have previously produced at the Cooley distillery. Noel has previously been honored with the title of 'Ambassador of the Year' and has been inducted into Whisky Magazine's Hall of Fame. As the first Master Distiller at Powerscourt, Noel has naturally played a key role in specifying and designing the new distillery.

Fercullen Whiskey
Under the Fercullen brand, the distillery sells a range of Single Malts, Single Grains Blended Irish Whiskeys that have already received many accolades and won international competitions. This provides income during the wait until the whiskey from the family's own distillery can be used. The spirits have Powerscourt purchased from the Cooley distillery. Fercullen is the English version of "From Cualam" the ancient Gaelic name for Powerscourt Estate and surrounding land.
