Highland Park presents number one out of three single cask whiskies in a local series. The three whiskies are named after and inspired by the first Danish king, Gorm the Old; his wife, Queen Thyra Danebod; and their son, Harald Bluetooth. Thyra Danebod gave birth to the country's first heir to the throne, Harald Bluetooth. After Gorm the Old's death, he raised the second Jelling Stone in memory of his parents. But the Great Jelling Stone also tells that Harald Bluetooth was the king who united Denmark and converted the Danes to Christianity. Gorm the Old was launched in 2021.

Highland Park is produced at the distillery located on the legendary Orkney Islands. Highland Park was established in 1798 on the very islands that were rumored to have belonged to a well-known whisky smuggler. Smuggler Magnus Eunson enjoyed a strong position within the church, allowing him to conduct his side business undisturbed. Who would think to search for contraband beneath the pulpit?

Highland Park's unique character is due to the peat used as fuel in drying the grain. This peat has absorbed salty sea air for centuries, imparting a heathery note to the whisky. The whisky is matured in oak barrels for at least 12 years. Gradually, the whisky matures, and the fiery flavor mellows, resulting in an exceptionally smooth character. This meticulous and time-consuming process guarantees the whisky reaches its perfection. Michael Jackson, the author of many renowned whisky books, describes Highland Park as "the greatest all-rounder in the world of malt whisky."
